Recently, we told you about two separate incidents involving the attempt to capture a selfie with a rattlesnake. In both situations, which were just weeks apart, the owner of the phone received a life-threatening snake bite and ended up with with an extended stay in the hospital. The two men eventually recovered.
While Condé Nast says that there have been dozens of deaths this year related to selfies, shark attacks have killed eight people so far in 2015. The list of selfie deaths is pretty gruesome and includes electrocutions, accidental shootings and falls.
Just the other day, 27-year old Braxton Rocha was bitten by a Tiger Shark in Honolulu, and shot a video selfie of the incident which showed off his wound. You can see if for yourself by clicking on the video at the end of this story, but be warned. It is not a pretty sight.
The bottom line here is that risking your life to take a selfie is not worth it. You might not want to live a milquetoast life (Google it), but you don’t want to end up as a sentence on a Wikipedia page that discusses your demise.
Thanks for the tip!
