LeTV has been working on a sequel to its highly spec’d LeTV Max. Earlier this month, the manufacturer released a teaser showing that the Snapdragon 820 chipset will be employed on the phone. At the same time, reports indicated that the handset would sport a smaller 5.7-inch screen, down from the 6.33-inches used on the OG model. The display will offer a resolution of 1440 x 2560, same as on the Max.

Today, a rumor out of China states that the LeTV Max 2 will employ 6GB of RAM. We recently passed along the news that Samsung has mass produced 12Gb LPDDR4 RAM chips. Four of them will hold 6GB of information (12Gb=1.5GB). We could see the Samsung Galaxy S7 also feature 6GB of RAM.

The LeTV Max 2 is also expected to carry a 23MP rear camera using a Sony IMX300 sensor, with an aperture of f/2.0. The rear snapper will offer fast .1 second fast focusing. The body will be made of glass in both the front and back, and we are told that the bezels will be even thinner on the sequel. You might recall that in April, LeTV COO Liang Jun posted a comparison photo on Weibo, showing that the 1.6mm bezels on the Max were smaller than the 3.1mm bezels on the Xiaomi Mi Note. He also offered $1 million to anyone finding a narrower bezel on a QHD screen. As far as we know, LeTV never cut that one million dollar check.

If LeTV does use the Snapdragon 820 on the Max 2, as it so obviously intends to, we should see the phone launched late in the first quarter of 2016.
