The latest rumored specs call for a 5-inch display, and a Snapdragon 801 chipset under the hood. Yes, we said Snapdragon 801, not 810. This SoC features a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 330 GPU. To put this chip in the proper historical significance, it powers the HTC One (M8), the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the BlackBerry Passport. Earlier rumors had a more powerful morsel, like the MediaTek MT-6795T, inside. That well-endowed prototype allegedly scored 54,311 on AnTuTu. That doesn’t exactly sound like a fashion-first phone to us.
According to today’s report, the OnePlus X could be unveiled as soon as this month. Offering a OnePlus handset for those who don’t care about specs gives the company something to sell this holiday season to both the phone geek (OnePlus 2) and the guy or gal who considers a smartphone to be a fashion accessory. Will invites still be required? Stay tuned.
Thanks for the tip!
