Quick Reply was offered to iPhone users with iOS 8. The feature allows those receiving a notification of a message, to respond directly from that notification without opening up the messaging app. Originally, this worked only with Apple’s own Messages application. However, with iOS 9, Apple allowed Quick Reply to be used by third party messaging apps like Skype and Facebook Messenger.

And now, WhatsApp gets added to that list. But Quick Reply will work with the Facebook-owned messaging app only for those iPhone users running iOS 9.1. The latest build of Apple’s mobile OS just started rolling out toward the end of last week. And for Apple Watch users running watchOS 2.0.1, a pre-set reply can be used to answer a WhatsApp message, or a reply can be dictated to the wearable.

If you’re a WhatsApp user totin’ the Apple iPhone 6s or Apple iPhone 6s Plus, you’ll be happy to learn that the latest update to the iPhone version of the app includes support for 3D Touch. That is the feature available on the new iPhone models that allows the device to differentiate between a soft touch on the screen, a regular touch, and a harder touch. Apple says that the light tap will allow you to get a “peek” at content, while a harder tap will “pop” you into the page.

Besides the Quick Reply capabilities for WhatsApp, iOS 9.1 also comes with more than 150 new emoji, and improves Live Photos by preventing the camera from recording while you are raising or lowering your iPhone.
