For the longest time, the iPhone Retina (and similar IPS LCD displays) had the edge in color accuracy and brightness. Even the Galaxy S4 and S5, which leveled the subpixel density playing field, were off the color chart. Last fall though, the Note 4 introduced the best display, hands down. The S6 and Note 5 continue that legacy.

I could see Apple finally hopping over to AMOLED now that it’s the best in the industry. I’m not holding my breath, though.
