Microsoft’s preorder prices for the new flagships, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, have dropped very recently, by £50, with the Lumia 950 now coming in at £450 including VAT and the 950 XL at £530 inc VAT, all in the UK of course. Reseller prices are likely to come down too, to slightly less than this, so expect to see the 950, for example, from some places at around £430 inc VAT in December. Pricing which seems much more realistic, given the specification levels and competition. Screenshot proof below!

Setting the RRP for a product that hasn’t launched yet is always tricky and the smartphone market is constantly changing – but this is a sizeable drop and extremely welcome. For Microsoft, getting more of these into people’s hands should be a much higher priority than making a few extra pounds profit in what could easily otherwise be a niche market slot.
