HTC One A9 appears to be a mid-range model

A tweet from tipster Evan Blass reveals that the eagerly awaited HTC One A9 is not exactly the high-end device that every one expects it to be. According to the tweet disseminated by the tipster today, the One A9 aka the Aero, will be equipped with a 5-inch AMOLED display carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 441ppi. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 617 chipset, which carries an octa-core CPU, and the Adreno 405 GPU.

Blass, who gained fame as @evleaks, added that 2GB of RAM is inside the Aero, along with 16GB of expandable internal memory. A 13MP camera (with OIS) graces the rear of the handset, and a 4MP Ultrapixel camera is on the front, ready to snap selfies and handle video chats. The HTC One A9 is made from metal, and a fingerprint scanner is said to be on board. A 2150mAh battery keeps the lights on. The device is said to measure approximately 7mm thin, and will be offered in six different colors.

The HTC One A9 should be released in November. It was back in July when HTC CEO Cher Wang addressed an HTC stockholders meeting and tried to raise the spirits of those in the room by revealing that HTC would be producing a new high-end “hero” device which later became the HTC Aero aka the HTC One A9. The executive’s comments made it sound like the phone would be a flagship model, but the latest specs seem to say otherwise.

We should see the phone unveiled on September 29th, possibly alongside an Android Wear powered HTC smartwatch.
