Not only Microsoft to weigh in with a W10M flagship: the Elephone 'Vowney'. Maybe.

Meanwhile, over in China… Elephone is a maker of big-battery-ed Android smartphones and with the Vowney Version B (all probably a codename for a numeric final name) it’s apparently offering the device up with a Windows 10 Mobile option. The specifications are noteworthy in that they match what’s expected from the upcoming Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, with a 5.5″ 2K screen, 3GB of RAM and a 20MP stills camera. Best of all, there’s a 4200mAh battery and 64GB internal memory. Whoa. Of course, actually getting hold of it, making sure it works and stays up to date, plus getting support may be another thing entirely! Don’t hold your breath.

Elephone Vowney is their 2K Flagship 2015

Elephone would release a flagship phone with 2K display and Windows/Android OS we have more details of that phone, there are 2 version of vowney:

2K Flagship Elephone (Version B)

This is obviously not the final name of this device, but looking at the hardware on offer it is obviously going to be the jewel in the Elephone crown. Specifications for this flagship phone include a quad-core Intel processor, 3GB RAM and a 2K 2560 x 1440 resolution display. The gold body is there to show that it is the top of the range model, and also distinguish itself as the model offering either Windows 10 or Android 5.0 Lollipop. Other details include a 20 mega-pixel camera, possibly a Sony IMX230, 3800mAh battery and 64GB internal memory.

Note the dates on the source link, with one revision quoting 10th October, which seems realistic.

Here are the basic specifications of whatever Elephone decide to call this monster:

  • 5.5″ 2K screen
  • MTK6795 octacore processor running at 2.2GHz
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 20MP stills camera with phase detection auto-focus
  • 3800 or 4200mAh battery
  • 64GB internal memory plus microSD
  • Fingerprint recognition
  • Expected price around US $300

The exact specs vary even on the same page, so take all this with a huge pinch of salt. Still, the thought of some competition for Microsoft at the top end is enticing.
