Benchmark test shows LG G2 with Android 6.0 inside

Yesterday, we told you that LG’s own LGWorld website indicated that only the LG G3 and LG G4 would be updated to Android 6.0. We already know of one more LG handset that will receive the Marshmallow update early next year. The newly unveiled LG V10 will launch with Android 5.1 aboard, and will be updated early in 2016.

Considering that Motorola isn’t planning on updating the Verizon and AT&T branded versions of the second-generation Motorola Moto X to Android 6.0, the failure of LG to include the LG G2 in its updating plans isn’t nearly as surprising. Keep in mind that the G2 is about a year older than the second-gen Moto X. Both phones do have similar specs (see below).

But there might be hope yet for LG G2 owners. The handset was discovered going through the Geekbench benchmark test with Android 6.0 installed. The LG G2 features a 5.2-inch screen, with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Snapdragon 800 chipset powers the unit, carrying a quad-core 2.26GHz CPU and the Adreno 330 GPU. The phone sports 2GB of RAM.

As a comparison, the second-generation Moto X also features a 5.2-inch FHD screen, with the Snapdragon 801 SoC under the hood. The latter contains a quad-core 2.5GHz CPU and the Adreno 330 GPU. 2GB of RAM is employed by the handset.

LG has yet to officially make an announcement about its Android 6.0 updating schedule, and since benchmark tests can be faked, the best thing to do is to take this with a grain of salt. Eventually, the manufacturer should make some sort of official proclamation about its updating plans.

Thanks for the tip!
