Best alternatives to the iPhone 6s Plus

Well, folks, after Apple’s supersized iPhone 6 Plus turned out to be a successful endeavor, it only makes sense that Apple would re-introduce the form factor with the iPhone 6s Plus. But, of course, it’s not the end-all be-all of phablets, and while you may be tempted to grab one of these, along with a dozen of large-pocketed jeans, you probably want to check out some alternatives as well.

Well, here, we’ve compiled a set of high-class, large-screened handsets that you just may be happy to throw your money at. Combining beautiful design with great hardware, these are the 2015 top-shelf devices of their respective manufacturers. Of course, do let us know in the comments which iPhone 6s Plus alternative you consider best!

Samsung Galaxy Note5

Samsung’s S Pen-toting phablet line is an institution of its own and certainly among the first devices that come to mind when one things “large-screened smartphone”. The Note5 was just released last month and bears cutting-edge hardware, such as Sammy’s homebrewed octa-core, 2.1 GHz, 64-bit Exynos 7420, 4 GB of RAM, an immaculate 16 MP camera, and a 5.7” display with the crisp resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+

Just like the iPhone 6s Plus is purely an inflated version of the iPhone 6s, the Galaxy S6 edge+ is the larger doppleganger of the Galaxy S6 edge. Just as gorgeous, only larger; same hardware, but bigger batteryl. The Galaxy S6 edge+ is certainly among the most visually appealing phablets, with its dual curved screen and shiny materials. Just like the Note5, it has an octa-core, 2.1 GHz, 64-bit Exynos 7420, 4 GB of RAM, an immaculate 16 MP camera, and a 5.7” display with the crisp resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.

Motorola Moto X Style

Motorola decided to push its flagship to phablet territory this year and gave the Moto X Style a huge 5.7” display. Fear not however, as the handset has a mindboggling screen-to-body ratio of 76%, which means that the device is quite smaller than what you would expect. Just don’t think that you’d be able to easily operate it with one hand.

The Moto X Style is highly customizable, with various color options and even engraving available on the Moto Maker website, and rocks a pretty solid hardware setup – 1.8 GHz, hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3 GM of RAM, a 5.7″ display housing a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, and a 21 MP camera.

LG G4

LG’s leather-clad flagship handset is certainly a classy accessory in its own right. The manufacturer’s signature screen-to-body ratio makes it to the G4, giving it slim bezels and a compact build, considering the 5.5” display, of course. The hardware under this slightly curved hood consists of a 1.8 GHz, hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3 GM of RAM, a 5.5″ display housing a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, and a 16 MP camera.

Huawei Mate S

Announced just a week ago, The Mate S sports a great looking build, a very good screen-to-body ratio, and a 2.5D AMOLED screen panel, waterfalling seamlessly to the sides, where the Mate S is just 2.6mm thin. The display is with a 1080p resolution, and the phablet is powered by Huawei’s newest Kirin 935 chipset, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. The kicker is that the Mate S also has Force Touch (what Apple is calling 3D Touch) and it seems to offer some similar functions as Apple’s tech, though, we aren’t sure just how many of them there are just yet.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus

Of course, let’s not forget the iPhone 6s Plus’ predecessor. Last year’s iPhone 6 Plus still runs perfectly smooth and will be getting iOS 9. Sure, it will not have the upgraded camera, or 3D touch, but these things aside, we are fairly sure that you can happily use your iPhone 6 Plus for at least a couple of years more, should you decide against upgrading.
