Meizu is going PRO. On Friday, the company introduced its new brand of high-end handsets with Meizu VP Ni Lan blasting other smartphone manufacturers for producing phones that leave customers with a poor user experience. The Meizu executive added that the new PRO line is going to change that. On September 25th, the first Meizu PRO model will be unveiled. As previously rumored, it will be called the Meizu PRO 5.

The PRO 5 is a flagship device, and the latest rumors call for it to be available in two versions. One variant will be powered by the Exynos 7420 chipset, used in the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. The other model will have the MediaTek MT6797 SoC under the hood. That chip features a deca-core CPU.

The metallic uni-body Meizu PRO 5 is expected to be equipped with a 5.5-inch screen carrying a resolution of 1080 x 1920. Meizu’s Founder Bai Yongxian has gone on record as saying that a QHD resolution screen is not logical on a smartphone, although Meizu’s next wave of high-end models will feature a 2K resolution display.

The PRO 5 should come with 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB of native storage, and a 21MP rear camera. A 3000mAh battery will power the phone. Pricing and availability will most likely be revealed in two weeks.
