TENAA certifies Samsung Galaxy Grand On

The Samsung Galaxy Grand On, model number SM-G5500, has just been certified by Chinese regulator TENAA. As usual, the information released by the agency includes the specs, so here we go. The handset features a 5.1-inch display with a 720 x 1280 resolution. An unnamed dual-core 1.2GHz CPU drives the phone, despite earlier rumors that called for the Exynos 3475 to be under the hood. That rumor stated that the latter would carry a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU. 1GB of RAM is inside, along with 8GB of native storage. Those seeking additional memory can access the 128GB capacity microSD slot.

We can take a break here to point out the obvious. This is an entry-level handset, and will be priced accordingly. While there are no rumors regarding the price of the unit, on Indian import-export site Zauba, the phone was listed as having a value of $104. While not the specific retail price, it does provide us with an idea of what to expect on the price tag.

Resuming with the remaining specs, there is an 8MP rear-facing camera, and the 5MP snapper in front shoots selfies and handles video chats. The Galaxy Grand On supports TD-LTE, LTE FDD, GPRS and EDGE networks, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed. While not part of the TENAA-leaked specs, the phone is said to have a 2600mAh battery keeping the lights on.

Now that the device has been certified by TENAA, an official unveiling shouldn’t be too far away. Keep in mind that this is the same phone that was rumored earlier to be the Samsung Galaxy O5. A companion model, the Samsung Galaxy O7 (SM-G600), also known as the Samsung Galaxy Grand Mega On, appears to be an entry-level phablet with a 5.5-inch HD screen.
