Elephone Vowney offers a Quad HD screen and 4 GB of RAM for under $300

Elephone may not be among China’s top smartphone vendors, but the company has some interesting handsets in its portfolio – including the P5000 (which packs a massive a 5350 mAh battery), or the P8000 (which offers pretty nice features for around $200). The newest Elephone smartphone, called Vowney, is also worth our attention, because it comes with high-end features, but doesn’t cost too much.

Running Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Elephone Vowney sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen, and is powered by a 64-bit, octa-core MediaTek MTK6795 processor helped by 4 GB of RAM. The handset also offers LTE connectivity, dual SIM support, NFC, a fingerprint scanner on the back, 32 GB of internal memory, and microSD card support. Its rear camera is a 21 MP Sony-made one with phase detection auto focus and 4K video recording, while the front facing camera is an 8 MP one. The Vowney measures 153 x 76.8 x 9.5 mm, weighs 156 grams, and includes a generous 4000 mAh battery.

The bezels around the screen of the Elephone Vowney are not as thin as the first promo image (seen below) wants us to believe. If you’re looking at the other images, you’ll see that there’s quite a lot of black space between the display and the phone’s main body. Anyway, the Vowney can be pre-ordered from Elephone’s international website for just $289.90 (check out the source link at the end of this article), and should start shipping on November 20.

Earlier this year, we heard that Elephone was working on an Intel-powered high-end smartphone with a Quad HD screen, fingerprint scanner, and 4 GB of RAM, but, since then, there’s been no word on that device. Or maybe the Vowney will have an Intel-powered variant? We’ll let you know when we find out.
