Powering the Moto X Play is a Snapdragon 615 SoC, which contains an octa-core 1.7GHz CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside, along with 32GB of internal storage. Those requiring additional storage can use the 128GB capacity microSD slot. A 21MP camera is on back with an aperture of f/2.0, allowing users to take pictures under less than optimal lighting conditions. For selfies and video chats, a 5MP snapper is located on the front of the phone. Android 5.1 is pre-installed.
Motorola protects the Moto X Play from splashes and light rain thanks to nanocoating technology. And yes, this is expected to be the same model that Verizon turns into the Motorola DROID MAXX 2. Keep in mind that a 3630mAh battery isn’t thin, which explains the 10.9mm thickness of the Moto X Play. The device weighs in at 169 grams.
Pricing is unknown at the moment.
