Fresh live images of the BlackBerry Venice leak, dripping Android all over

Newly leaked images of the BlackBerry Venice have surfaced, giving Android users a look at the slider running Google’s open source OS.  As we previously mentioned, the operating system is basically stock Android with several BlackBerry 10 features. When the phone boots up, the Android bugdroid is seen holding a shield as a way to emphasize the secure nature of the software. One of the changes to Android can be seen in the series of photos found in the slideshow, where three options (including Google Now) are offered with a swipe up. The other two options allow you to create a message, or perform a local search.

Another image, this one of the Recent Apps page, shows that the “card” for each app is a different size based on how often you employ that particular app. Also, take a gander at the picture of the boot screen with the BlackBerry logo near the top, followed by the phrase “powered by Android.” Other photos reveal that users will be able to do quite a few things from the home screen, such as adding a new event or meeting to their calendar, and check their agenda for the day. BlackBerry Venice users will also be able to write an email or BBM message, and send a text directly from the home screen.

The BlackBerry Venice is rumored to be model number STV100-6, and is expected to feature a 5.4-inch screen. The Snapdragon 808 SoC is driving the handset, with a hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 418 GPU. 3GB of RAM is said to be inside, and the rear-facing camera is believed to be 18MP with support for OIS. We could see the Venice launch on all four major U.S. carriers in November, just in time for the holiday season. The last time we saw such interest in a new ‘Berry was when the ill-fated BlackBerry Storm was being prepped for its Titanic-like maiden voyage. Even the unique looking BlackBerry Passport didn’t elicit the amount of interest that the Venice has.
