This morning, we showed you
a leaked press render featuring the Huawei Nexus 6p. But that is only one of the two new expected Nexus handsets that should be unveiled on September 29th. What about the LG-manufactured Nexus 5X? Well, we are happy to tell you that press renders for LG’s third Nexus handset have also leaked this morning, revealing a trio of color options for the stock Android phone.
The three colors pictured are white, black, and a minty blueish-green color called
ice blue by Amazon in an earlier leak. We’ve
recently seen the phone pictured in that hue. The rumored specs for the Nexus 5X include a 5.2-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Snapdragon 808 chipset, featuring a hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 418 GPU, is under the hood. Some benchmark tests, and a leaked Amazon listing, show 2GB of RAM is inside; we want to hold off on making a pronouncement here until after the unveiling. There should be a version of the phone with 32GB of native storage, and one with 64GB of the stuff.
The 13MP rear-facing camera appears to offer laser auto-focus, and there will be a 5MP snapper in front for selfies and video chats. A 2700mAh battery is on board, and the new USB Type-C port is included. Under the slightly protruding camera you will find the fingerprint scanner, and Android 6.0 will be pre-installed.
Less than a week remains before the unveiling, which normally would be prime time for leaks. However, it seems that both new Nexus models have been pretty much revealed. The amount of RAM in the Nexus 5X seems to be the big unknown issue, along with pricing and the launch date for both phones.
