Pulsar features a pretty user interface in material design style and animations. It generates “smart playlists” with your most played, recently played, and newly added songs.

Music gets sorted by album, artist, folder, and genre. Missing artist and album images are sync’d automatically, and a fast search function lets you navigate through all the albums, artists, and songs you have stored on your device.

In addition, Pulsar includes a home screen widget, color themes, and even welcome extras such as gapless playback and sleep timer. The app plays most standard music file types, such as mp3, aac, flac, ogg, and wav.

Overall, Pulsar is a solid music player that’s worthy of being checked out. Then again, if you’ve already settled on some other app, you probably won’t find much in Pulsar to win you over. How many different ways can you realistically do a music player on a smartphone?
