Pre-order listing shows that the Elephone 9000 is powered by the deca-core Helio X20 chipset

Back in June, we told you that the Elephone 9000 might be the first smartphone powered by the MediaTek MT6797 SoC. This is a Helio X20 chipset that contains the deca-core CPU. At the time, we told you that the phone might be released in the fourth quarter of this year. Now, about two and a half months later, the Elephone 9000 has shown up on an e-commerce site where it is available for pre-orders. And sure enough, the phone is carrying the MT6797 SoC inside.

The Helio X20 features two Cortex-A72 cores running as fast as 2.5GHz for heavy lifting. Four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz handle medium powered tasks, and four Cortex-A 53 cores running at 1.4GHz take care of the light housekeeping.

According to the Geekbuying site where the phone is listed, the Elephone 9000 is equipped with a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 401pps. With the MediaTek MT6797 under the hood, the phone is carrying a deca-core 2.0GHz CPU and the Mali-T880-MP4 GPU. 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM is inside, along with 32GB of internal storage. A 128GB capacity microSD slot is available for those needing more memory. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 16MP/13MP, and a fingerprint sensor is on board. A 3100mAh battery powers the phone, and the Elephone 9000 has dual SIM capabilities. Android 5.1.1 is pre-installed.

The Elephone 9000 can be pre-ordered for $329.99. According to the listing, besides the phone, inside the box you’ll find a USB cable, screen protector, the manual and a wall adapter.

Thanks for the tip!
